Since 2011, Citymakers Company participated in work on the park project and study of Kitay-Gorod district. In the same year the public organization "Friends of Zaryadye" was founded. “Friends of Zaryadye” supported the idea of creating a park, they organized a series of round tables, seminars, exhibitions and meetings with the leadership of the city, which attracted public attention to this territory.
On November 12, 2013, the international consortium including Diller Scofidio + Renfro (New York), Hargreaves Associates and Citymakers won the international contest for the best landscape concept of Zaryadye Park. 90 teams took part in the competition, 6 of them passed to the second stage of the contest. The second place was taken by the project of the consortium TPO "Reserve" (Moscow), the third place went to the team led by the Bureau MVRDV (Rotterdam).
In early 2017 the Citymakers team began to develop a socio-cultural and financial model of the park.
Our company was responsible for Park programs and ideology, its integration into the urban context, the adaptation of design solutions, the study of the park operating model, consultations with local experts, including experts in the field of historical and cultural heritage.
Today, Zaryadye Park is a new architectural miracle of Moscow. By means of a heights difference it was possible to recreate various climatic zones of Russia. The principles of "Wild Urbanism" made possible the unification of nature and city, this is achieved, in particular, by using “pixel” paving. Due to the integration of functional architecture into the landscape the complex infrastructure of the park does not seem superfluous and cumbersome. The usage of modern technologies and careful attitude to the history of the place give a rise to an open public space, filled with meaning, having its own identity and ideology.
As a part of an international consortium consisting of 12 companies from 6 countries, Citymakers developed a comprehensive design for 10,2 hectares of the park and offered solutions for surrounding areas.
